Connectionism
One of the competing theories for artificial intelligence is connectionism, which is a neural network approach to building systems.Lucy - Neural Network Robot - http://www.cyberlife-research.com/about/index.htm
One implementation of artificial intelligence is the Google algorithm, in which Google attempts to model the bahaviour of a web surfer. This surfer follows web links in pages and will after a period of time decide they have had enough and stop surfing.
An interesting result of the success of Google is that it has become one of the most important pages on the internet which means that a site that has a link from a Google search will get more hits than a site with low rankings on Google.
In order to properly calculate a page ranking based on web surfer behaviour, therefore, Google ought to include the use of key words in search engines as part of it's algorithm.
