Waldrenville Golf Classic, Otago - De Oliveira Takes all the Honours
Young Brazilian newcomer Marcos De Oliviera eyes up the shot on the final hole. After a close final nine holes, he just needs this putt to clinch the game. Just one putt required to win the December Waldronville Golf Classic.
The shot is taken and it is a good one - straight into the hole. A perfect start for the new season. In his post-match interview, Marcos said "I love to visit New Zealand, it is one of my favourite places to play golf, the reception I got when I arrived was very friendly. When I put the ball into the lake on the 5th tee, I thought I was in trouble, but the 6th went well and from then on there was no trouble. I think today is evidence of the increasing challenge of the Brazilian golfers. Now I am being taken to a special Danish Bakery in Dunedin, before we start the proper celebrations."
